What Sem Parar is
Sem Parar’s official site describes the tag as a small device you stick on the windshield. At a barrier plaza, sensors read it, the barrier lifts, and the toll is charged to the account. The same pages say you can also use the tag at partner parking, fuel, and other city sites identified with the Sem Parar sign — this hub is about highway tolls, not those extras.
Activation is only required if you bought the tag at a reseller (convenience stores, pharmacies, newsstands). Sem Parar says you then activate it on semparar.com.br, in the app, or by phone. BrazilTolls does not sell, ship, or activate tags, and this page does not quote a device price, a monthly plan, or a minimum top-up.
Cash, card, and TAG on Via Dutra
CCR RioSP’s FAQ for Via Dutra (BR-116): the six plazas it operates can be paid in cash, credit or debit card (contactless preferred), cheque, a Dbtrans coupon, or electronic payment in the automatic lanes. A TAG is not the only way through.
The same FAQ: tags are issued by Automatic Toll Payment Operators authorised by the regulator. CCR does not name a single brand on that page. Use the automatic lane only if a working tag is on the windshield; otherwise stay in a general / collector lane.
Free Flow, and paying without a tag
ANTT’s Free Flow pages: gantries identify a TAG on the windshield or the number plate, so you do not stop. With a TAG, the operator account is charged automatically. Without one, the concessionaire registers the plate and you pay later through its official channels within the published deadline.
CCR RioSP publishes Free Flow on the Rio-Santos (BR-101) and on stretches of BR-116 in the São Paulo metro, not as a replacement for every Via Dutra barrier plaza. Its FAQ: with a TAG the gantry charge goes to the operator invoice, with the TAG discounts that concession publishes; without a TAG, plate-based payment is offered on the concessionaire site, app, WhatsApp, or operational bases. This page does not invent a fine amount or a pay-by date — read the live CCR and ANTT notices.
Other operators, and what this site does not do
ANTT’s Free Flow guidance lists several TAG operators you can contract with, including Sem Parar, Veloe, and ConectCar (and others such as Taggy, ConectTaggy, and Green Pass). This hub is about Sem Parar because that is the name drivers search. The other operators issue the same kind of windshield tag; buy only from the operator you choose.
ANTT also publishes automatic TAG discounts on federal concessions: a basic tariff discount (DBT) of 5% for TAG users, plus a progressive frequent-user discount (DUF) that depends on the road and plaza.
